The event will take place at the prestigious Sands Venue in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire on November 19th and will feature some of the country’s best loved soap and drama stars from the set of Emmerdale, Coronation Street, Bad Girls, The Bill, Hollyoaks and ‘The Royal.’

Already confirmed to appear are Emmerdale’s Haley Tomaddon (Delilah Dingle), Tom Lister (Carl King), Meg Johnson (Pearl Ladderbanks), Liam O’Brien (Ethan Blake) and Roxanne Pallet (Jo Stiles).

There will also be a performance from top vocalist Jane McDonald, from ITV Weathergirl Sian Lloyd, from Coronation Street Jonathan Wrather (Joe Carter), from Hollyoaks Chris Fountain (Justin Burton) and from ‘The Royal’ there will be appearances from Amy Robbins (Dr Jill Weatherill), Robert Daws (Dr Gordon Ormerod), Robert Cavanah (Adam Carnegie), Micky Stark (Ken Hopkirk), Scott Taylor (’Frankie’ Robinson) and Michelle Hardwick (Lizzie Hopkirk). Also appearing are Katzia Pelka (DAC Georgia Hobbs) from The Bill and ‘Bad Girl’ Liz May Brice (Pat Kerrigan).

Richard has organized this event, along with owner of The Sands Venue, Peter Swann, to raise much needed funds for The Motor Neurone Disease Association – a charity very close to his heart.

He explains: “Motor Neurone Disease is a devastating and fatal disease that affects thousands of people across the UK and there is no known cure. My mum is suffering from an aggressively terminal form of MND and I have seen first hand the effects that the disease has on the lives of both the sufferer and their families.

“By holding this event at The Sands Venue, we hope to make a considerable amount of money to help the fantastic work that the MND Association is doing to promote research into the causes of the disease and to help work towards a cure.”

Malcolm Tyndall, Director of Fundraising at the MND Association, says: “The black tie dinner and swing show at The Sands Venue is a wonderful idea and we hope everyone will be in fine voice on the night! We are delighted to be the beneficiaries of such a memorable event and wish Richard Shelton and his friends the very best of luck.”

The charity event will take place on Sunday November 19th from 7pm. Tickets are charged at £65 per person (including a three course meal) or £200 per table of four (including a three course meal). All proceeds go to the MND Association.

Doctor Adam quits Emmerdale

Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

Richard Shelton says goodbye to smooth-talking Dr Adam Forsythe this month when he leaves Emmerdale.

Richard’s role as the murdering GP will come to an end with a block-buster storyline.

Of course, Richard can’t reveal what happens to his character who has murdered blackmailer Terence Turner.

But he does reveal: “It’s a great exit – but is it final? I’d like to think we’ve not seen the end of Dr Adam yet.”

Richard says he has loved working on the ITV1 show based in the Yorkshire Dales.

“It’s been great, I’ve loved every minute of it. I’ve learnt a lot and the other cast members are fantastic. It’s been a wonderful experience.

“I’ve really enjoyed playing such a meaty character like Adam. It was great fun playing the nice man that Dr Adam wasn’t and the horrible man that Dr Adam really is.

“It’s also been really brilliant working with Lorraine Chase, who plays my wife Stephanie. We’ve had some great scenes together.”

On screen at the moment, Dr Adam is under suspicion of murdering sex attacker Terence Turner by his sister Steph. The action hots up as she tries to find out what really happened to her brother. Then Dr Adam discovers she is trying to secretly tape him making a murder confession.

Richard’s last scenes on the show will go out in July but he won’t be taking a well-earned summer holiday.

Instead Richard will be performing around the country singing from his hit show Top Cat.

“I’m singing at an open-air concert in Shrewsbury with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with opera star Lesley Garrett which should be amazing.

“Then I’ve got some gigs at The Sands venue in Lincolnshire coming up, so I’m going to be really busy.”

But will that really be end of Emmerdale’s heartthrob doctor – watch this space…
