On Sunday 8th, Richard is joining a star packed bill with famous faces including Nina Wadia (Eastenders), Steve Huison and Graeme Hawley (Coronation Street), Antony Costa (Blue), Charlie Hardwick, Natalie Anderson and Meg Johson (Emmerdale), Hayley Tammadon (Dancing on Ice), Chris Fountain (Hollyoaks) as they sing big-band classics and perform specially written comedy sketches to mark the opening of this fabulous venue after a multi-million pound refurbishment. Hear Richard sing ‘Goodness Gracious Me’ with Nina or his very own Cuban styled ‘My Way’!

With live piano accompaniment, from ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ to ‘Come Fly With Me’, ‘New York, New York’ to ‘Chicago’, choose your favourite crooning tunes, put them on shuffle and hear them sung - live! Richard Shelton brings his beautiful vocals and witty banter to the show where you pick the tunes and he sings them with a twinkle in his blue eyes and some witty banter.

Following his performance alongside Dame Shirley Bassey and Sir Tom Jones at Sir Elton Johns ‘White Tie and Tiara Ball’, Richard has been asked once again to sing by Sir Elton John at the Elton John Aids Foundation Grey Goose charity Ball at the Grosvenor House Hotel.

Richard was also honored to have been invited to asked perform for HRH Prince of Wales at Windsor Castle with a 35-piece orchestra at the prestigious ‘Arts Meets Business Ball’ when Richard sang the Frank Saintra/Klaus Ogerman arrangement of ‘The Girl from Ipanema’ and ‘Top Hat, White Tie and Tails’ made famous by Fred Astaire.

“It was a tremendous honour”, said Richard, “and a unique perspective watching the Royal toes tapping along with the music from the stage. Perhaps next time I’ll pluck up the courage to ask the Duchess to dance, with Prince Charles’ permission, of course!”.

Richard’s really excited to be performing some beautiful new songs including the smouldering, sexy Latin-vibe ‘Little Black Dress’ and the upbeat ‘Flying Home’ written by Richard. Other standards will include ‘Some Other Time’, ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ and ‘You and the Night and the Music’.

The set runs from 5.45pm-7.15pm - looking forward to seeing you there!

Produced by Quarante-Trois Pictures and written by Claire Jephcott and Joe Atkins, the film uses marital fidelity, sibling rivalry, traveling ‘en-famille’ on a bus through Europe and the aches, pains and laughter the journey brings them as its inspiration.

“I’m looking forward to examining the dark side of James’s character”, says Richard, “and locations in Santiago de Compostela in Spain and in France are just peachy”.

Richard also recently performed with his 7-piece big band at the Royal National Theatre showcase music event on the South Bank singing the classics and standards including ‘Come Fly With Me’ and ‘The Lady is a Tramp’.

Richard also sang with the BBC Big Band on Saturday 16th June to 17,000 bra and feather-boa clad women for the Moon Walk charity which raised £9 million on the night for Breast Cancer research.

And in May, Richard performed with the 35-piece London Concert Orchestra at London’s largest theatre and home to the English National Opera, The Coliseum in St. Martins Lane. Richard joined two of the most popular dancers from ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, Anton de Beke and Erin Boag on their glamorous show ‘Cheek to Cheek’ as the official guest singer and the Coliseum dates marked the finale of a glittering show which has toured the UK to capacity crowds with guest artistes Chris Marques and Jaclyn Spencer, 3-times Salsa World Champions!

Richard was also thrilled to meet Bjorn Ulvaeus from ABBA in Stockholm.

Other venues on the tour include Athens, Paris, Stockholm, Helsinki, finishing in Istanbul in October.

“I loved the show” says Richard. “It’s was a fabulous experience at a great time for ‘Mamma Mia’ with the movie coming out and so much attention. I mean, where else do you get to sing ABBA songs dressed in orange lycra and silver platform boots, getting literally tens of thousands of people across Europe up on their feet dancing and singing? It was just great!”

While staying true to his crooning roots, Richard is set to swing this summer with some fresh and exciting interpretations of British classics from the stables of both pop and the standards.
